Pope Leo XIV sent 80 electricity generators and medicines to Ukraine for people suffering from the cold and the consequences of the war, Ukrinform reported, referring to the website "Vatican News", BTA reported.

The aid sent by the head of the Roman Catholic Church responds to the calls of many bishops from all over the world, who know the difficulties and suffering faced by people experiencing the consequences of the war and low winter temperatures after the deliberate destruction of energy infrastructure, the Ukrainian news agency indicates.

The Vatican aid was sent by the Basilica "Hagia Sophia" in Rome and has already reached its final destination in Fastiv and Kiev, which have been particularly affected by the recent Russian attacks.

In addition to the generators in Ukraine, the Holy See also delivered thousands of medicines, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, supplements and melatonin, which is in particular demand because it helps people sleep in conditions of constant fear and stress.

The Dicastery for Charity also announced that preparations are underway to send a truck that will carry thousands of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and anti-hypertensive drugs, as well as various food products. Once the aid arrives in Ukraine, its distribution is carried out through the parish networks of the individual dioceses.
