Drone debris was found on a beach in Romania's largest and most famous Black Sea resort - Mamaia, local media reported. A resident of Constanta called 112 on Monday evening to report the incident, BTA reported.
Border police officers who arrived on the scene identified metal debris, and police officers cordoned off the area. The case is being investigated under the coordination of the prosecutor's office at the Constanta Court of Appeal.
Authorities are expected to determine whether it was an air or sea drone and whether it was carrying cargo. Sources familiar with the case do not rule out that it was a decoy drone or a target simulator without a pyrotechnic charge.
“Damage from a drone was brought from the water to the beach in the area of the “Victoria“ hotel in Mamaia“, Defense Minister Radu Miruca announced on the Antena 3 CNN television. He also informed that representatives of the Romanian intelligence service and employees of the specialized department at the Ministry of Defense should also arrive on the scene to recover the parts of the drone so that they can be used for possible expertise.
