The largest multinational exercise in Europe is taking place at the Cincu training ground in Brasov County in central Romania, Digi24 reports. It also includes artillery from the United States Army, BTA reported.
The exercise “Dynamic Front 26“ will last until Friday (February 13) and includes representatives from 24 different countries of the Alliance, including the United States, France and Poland. It is taking place simultaneously in five different NATO countries, in nine training areas and at multiple command posts across Europe. The exercise is considered a major test of how NATO forces can act in a coordinated manner on the Eastern Flank in a complex security situation characterized by the need for a rapid response.
“This is NATO's benchmark exercise for fire support. (...) We need to be able to intercept and neutralize between 600 and 1,200 long-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and single-target attack drones, while simultaneously identifying targets and maintaining their tracking“, said the commander of the 56th Multi-Domain Command, US Brigadier General Steve Carpenter, who is responsible for Europe, at a press conference in Cinque Terre.
The entire exercise aims to put into practice the so-called Eastern Flank Deterrence Line and to exercise NATO's regional plans.
