Vucic: Wine industry will not survive if we do not start exporting to China - 1

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that there will be no salvation for the Serbian wine industry if it does not start exporting 15 to 30 million bottles per year to China, RTS reported, BTA reported.

“We just have to ensure as much export to China as possible and then the wine industry will be able to survive“, Vucic said yesterday, adding that wine production in Europe is slowly declining, and Europeans are increasingly cutting down vineyards.

He pointed out that it is impossible to simultaneously enter the French and Italian markets, which, together with the United States, are the largest wine producers in world.

“We are too small for something like this. And that is why China is of great importance to us“, Vucic stressed.

The Serbian president announced yesterday that loans to support the production of wine, beer and spirits would be increased from 10 million dinars (85,191.3 euros) to 20 million dinars (170,382.6 euros).

Vucic pointed out that these are exceptional conditions that should further encourage the work of Serbian distilleries, wineries and breweries. He added that in recent years Serbia has made significant progress in both the number and quality of its distilleries and wineries.
