Ukrainian instructors to train German army - 1

The German army (Bundeswehr) will benefit from the experience of military instructors from Ukraine, thanks to an agreement signed by the defense ministers of the two countries last Friday, DPA reported, BTA reported.

"The plan is to incorporate the experience of Ukrainian soldiers into the training of the army, especially in military schools," a Bundeswehr spokesman said last night. He declined to comment on the details.

The Bundeswehr is responding to the significant changes that have occurred on the battlefield in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian offensive almost four years ago. Ukrainian soldiers have more experience in deploying and using drones, but also in quickly integrating modern command and control technologies into combat units.

V. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that a team of about a dozen invited Ukrainians destroyed numerous armored vehicles and other targets in a very short time during a NATO exercise in the Baltic states last year.

One of the participants in the exercise told the newspaper that the opposing unit, led by Estonians and Ukrainians, had "knocked out two battalions in one day."

The NATO country failed to eliminate the opposing drone teams.

NATO has not commented on the details of the exercise, but a spokeswoman said that the exercise scenarios can be specially designed to give the opposing side an advantage.
