EU foreign ministers will call on Hungary to reconsider its decision to block the bloc's next sanctions against Russia, German Foreign Minister Johann Vaddeful said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

"I do not believe it is right for Hungary to surrender its own fight for freedom and European sovereignty", Vaddeful said in Brussels.

"That is why we will once again reinforce our arguments to the Hungarians in Budapest, but of course also here in Brussels, and ask them to reconsider their position", he added.

For his part, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski accused Hungary of "a shocking lack of solidarity" for Ukraine and in creating an atmosphere of hostility towards Kiev, which is conducive to the election campaign in Hungary.

"I expected a much greater sense of solidarity from Hungary towards Ukraine. But instead, with the help of state propaganda, the ruling party managed to create an atmosphere of hostility towards a victim of an aggressive war and is now using this situation for the upcoming parliamentary elections. This is quite shocking," Sikorski pointed out.

Regarding the blocking of a planned EU loan for Ukraine, amounting to 90 billion euros, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budris also expressed "great disappointment".

Hungary will block the loan until Ukraine resumes oil supplies to it via the "Družba" oil pipeline, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said.
