The Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine had made an unsuccessful attempt to attack with drones the Russkaya compressor station, which supplies gas via the TurkStream pipeline, TASS reported, BTA reported.
A statement from the defense ministry said the attack on the facility, located in the Krasnodar region, took place tonight between 03:55 and 06:45 Moscow time (02:55 and 05:45 Bulgarian time). "Russian air defense and electronic warfare forces destroyed 10 Ukrainian aircraft-type strike drones", the Russian Defense Ministry wrote, adding that "there was no damage to the defended object".
The Kremlin condemned the attack on the facility, which is operated by Russian energy giant "Gazprom" and is part of the gas supply network to European customers, Reuters added.
Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said, quoted by Ukrinform, that Ukrainian drones hit the "Tikhoretsk" compressor station, also located in Krasnodar Krai. It is one of the most important oil supply centers in southern Russia and includes a large oil depot and terminal, an SBU official said. He said the strike on the facility caused a huge fire.
The SBU statement on the attack was released after authorities in the Krasnodar region reported early this morning that debris from an intercepted Ukrainian drone had caused a large fire at an oil base in the Tikhoretsk region, and that the flames had spread to 150 square kilometers.
