Anti-government protesters attacked an office of the Communist Party of Cuba in the north of the country, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The riots broke out in the city of Moron, about 400 km east of the capital Havana and near the island of Cayo Coco.
According to information from the local newspaper "Invasor", the protest began peacefully late yesterday as a demonstration against frequent power outages and food shortages, which are exacerbated by a US oil blockade. However, the rally turned violent overnight.
Videos appeared on social media showing a large fire and people throwing stones at the building while chants of "freedom" could be heard. Reuters noted that it was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the footage.
