Macron ruled out France's participation in operations to secure the Strait of Hormuz - 1

French President Emmanuel Macron said that it is ruled out that France will participate in operations to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz "in the current context of bombing", Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

At the same time, the French leader specified that when the situation becomes "calmer", Paris may participate in escorting vessels through the strategic strait for the global economy.

"We are not a party to the conflict and for this reason France will never participate in operations to open and liberate the Strait of Hormuz in the current context," Macron said.

With his statement, Emmanuel Macron refuted US President Donald Trump's words that Paris is willing to help the US on unblocking the Strait of Hormuz.

At a White House event yesterday, Trump said he had spoken with Macron and suggested the French president was willing to support U.S. efforts.
