Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said today that Israel and the US will significantly intensify their attacks on Iran in the coming days, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.
Katz said after consultations with senior military officials at the army headquarters in Tel Aviv that the strikes would be directed against the Iranian leadership, according to information from his office.
Israel is determined to continue its campaign against Iran's power structure, with the aim of "decapitate its commanders and destroy its strategic capabilities", until all threats to Israel's security and US interests in the region are eliminated, Katz added.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he was considering ending the campaign against Iran, adding that the US is close to achieving its goals in the conflict.
The UK condemned Iran's "brazen attacks" after Tehran fired missiles at a British-American base on the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia, the Associated Press reported.
British authorities did not provide further details about the attack, which was unsuccessful. It is not clear how close the missiles came to the base, which is about 4,000 kilometers from Iran.
The British Ministry of Defense said today that Iran's attacks in the region and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz are a threat to the interests of Britain and its allies.
The United Kingdom is not participating in the US-Israeli military operation against Iran, but has allowed US bombers to use its bases to attack Iranian missile launchers.
The British government yesterday also allowed US bombers to access the base on the island of Diego Garcia to strike Iranian targets from which the Islamic Republic launches missiles at ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
