The Israeli army said today that it has hit more than 3,500 targets in Lebanon in the past month, since Israeli forces again found themselves in open conflict with the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah", which is an ally of Tehran, reported Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
"Hezbollah" joined the war in the Middle East, which began in late February with an Israeli and US attack on Iran to avenge the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Israel responded with air strikes on targets in Lebanese territory and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces also said that they had eliminated about 1,000 fighters of the Shiite movement this month.
So far, the "Hezbollah" movement has not reported the number of its losses.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said yesterday that Israeli forces would make "Hezbollah" pay a high price for its increased attacks on Israel during the Jewish holiday of Passover, which began this week.
