An air alert was declared early this morning in Romania due to another drone attack in the area of the border with Ukraine, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported, BTA reported.
The authorities again issued a warning to the population in the eastern Tulcea county through the Ro-Alert system. The message was sent at 03:44 local (and Bulgarian) time.
„In the early hours of April 8, the forces of the Russian Federation attacked civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the border with Romania, in the northern part of Tulcea county. Two F-16 aircraft from the air police combat service took off from the 86th air base in Borcha, and the anti-aircraft systems were deployed in firing positions“, the quoted source states.
The information released also makes it clear that the radar systems monitored a group of 17 air targets that were in the border zone, without entering the national airspace.
The air alert was terminated at 5:10 a.m. local (and Bulgarian) time.
The forces of the Ministry of National Defense continue to be vigilant, maintaining the necessary surveillance and coordination measures in order to protect the population and the national territory, the department states.
