Ukraine regains territory: nearly 50 sq km liberated in March - 1

In March, Ukraine regained control over nearly 50 sq km of territory captured by Russia. This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Syrsky, quoted by Reuters, reports News.bg.

He noted that with the improvement of weather conditions, Russian forces have intensified their offensives along almost the entire 1,200-kilometer front line. The most intense remains the fighting around the city of Pokrovsk, which Moscow has been trying to completely capture since mid-2024.

According to Syrsky, the areas of Aleksandrovka, Konstantinovka and Liman have been among the most tense points in the past month. Military analysts say Ukrainian counterattacks in the southeast have disrupted Russian plans around Pokrovsk and weakened the spring offensive.

Syrsky added that since the end of January, Ukraine has regained control over a total of 480 sq km. km. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky described the current situation on the front as the most favorable for the country since mid-2025.

Ukrainian forces continue to strike military and industrial targets in Russia in order to limit its offensive potential. In March alone, 76 targets were attacked, including 15 oil refining facilities.

At the same time, Kiev is stepping up attacks on Russian ports, refineries and fertilizer plants, trying to reduce Moscow's export revenues.
