The eco-activist Greta Thunberg was detained today by the Dutch police during a demonstration in The Hague, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
Local police put Thunberg on a large bus along with other protesters who tried to block a main highway to The Hague.
Thunberg joined the protest of hundreds of activists and was detained when she joined a group of about a hundred people who tried to block the A12 highway, Reuters notes.
In recent months, the highway has been blocked dozens of times for several hours by activists demanding the end of all fossil fuel subsidies. In previous protests, police took detained demonstrators to another part of the city, where they were released without further consequences. Local authorities were not immediately available for comment.
