Ukraine relies on Norway's assistance in obtaining the Patriot air defense systems as quickly as possible. from other countries and concrete steps have already been discussed by the Norwegian side in this area, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this today at a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart Espen Bart Eide in Kyiv.
"The main topic of the negotiations, I will say frankly, was air defense systems. The Norwegian NASAMS system (NASAMS) has shown extremely positive results in Ukraine and we are grateful to the Norwegian government for making efforts so that Ukraine can have more such systems. However, the Norwegian government also has the tools and capabilities to help us get Patriot systems. from other countries. Today we also discussed this topic in detail," said Kuleba.
He thanked his Norwegian colleague for his "sincere dedication" on the topic of providing Ukraine with more air defense systems.
"After what I heard today, I have no doubt that Norway is doing everything in its power. All this does not happen in one day. However, we both have a common understanding that the new air defense batteries should be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible," Kuleba stressed.
At the press conference, it also became known that Norway is providing Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, as it believes that the country's armed forces should strengthen their ability to conduct deep strikes against Russian targets, Ukrinform reported.
"I think Ukraine should also be able to strengthen its ability to strike the enemy in the rear, which is one of the reasons we are happy to contribute to this F-16 fighter program, through which we will donate Norwegian F -16, which are modernized and in good condition along with Danish and Dutch ones," said the Norwegian foreign minister.
