The Kremlin said today that a possible new US military aid to Ukraine will not change the situation on the front, where it is in an unfavorable position, Reuters reported, quoted by bTA.
American aid, however, will support the US defense industry and leave Ukraine in debt, noted Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
„Ukraine will not only go to war to provide profit to the Americans, but will fight to the last Ukrainian and will be in debt,”, Peskov said.
The aid will be voted on Saturday by the US House of Representatives, said House Speaker Mike Johnson. It will provide $60.84 billion to meet Ukraine's wartime needs.
Russia controls about 18% of the territory of Ukraine. Western leaders and intelligence chiefs believe the war is at a crossroads that could result in victory for Russia and humiliation for the West if Ukraine does not receive urgent new aid.
In response to a question, Peskov said that he did not have information about the arrest in Germany of the two citizens with dual citizenship - German and Russian, accused of preparing sabotage, and therefore could not comment on the case.
Earlier, representatives of the German authorities announced that these people were arrested for planning attacks, including against US military facilities, with the aim of undermining military support for Ukraine.
According to Russian and American diplomats, Russia's war against Ukraine has caused the worst crisis in relations between Moscow and the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, Reuters notes.
