NATO chief: We will send more air defense systems to Kiev - 1

NATO is working on the possibility of sending more air defense systems air defense in Ukraine, the Secretary General of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said today, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.

"We collected data on the various air defense systems we have in NATO and focused on the Patriot systems. And we are working with the allies to ensure that they redirect some of their systems to Ukraine," Stoltenberg told reporters on the Italian island of Capri, where he was attending a meeting of G7 foreign ministers.

"We are conducting a dialogue with some specific countries", he added, emphasizing that the issue of the "Patriot" is key because it is the most advanced defense system the alliance can provide.

"The delay in air defense deliveries means more Russian missiles will hit their targets in Ukraine. The delay in ammunition deliveries means that Russia will be able to push more forces to the front line," he added.

"I am encouraged by the commitment and determination of NATO allies to support Ukraine," added the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. According to him, there are encouraging signs that the US Congress may soon unblock an aid package for Ukraine worth $60.84 billion.
