Estonian intelligence: Russian army suffers very heavy losses near Chasov Yar - 1

Estonian intelligence reports in its weekly summary of military actions in Ukraine that the situation is severe. Russian troops suffer significant losses, although they have some successes. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are experiencing a shortage of ammunition, reports ERR.

"On the front in Ukraine, the number of attacks (up to 90 attacks per day) by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (AF) on all fronts has increased in recent days.

Russia has some successes. It made a tactical breakthrough northwest of Avdeevka and also advanced 5 km. The armed forces of the Russian Federation continue to exert pressure on the Chasov Yar area, where they have advanced along the southern flank. The frequent attacks and the holding of the operational tempo indicate that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation maintain the initiative, which puts the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in a difficult position. The ASU needs support from its Western partners, and the shortage of ammunition is a priority.

No unplanned retreat of the ASU or breach of the front line was observed. Ukraine is forced to gradually relinquish its control over territories where there are no prepared defensive positions or opportunities for defensive actions.

"The Russian armed forces continue the bombing of the Ukrainian civilian population in the border areas, and also carry out deep strikes on the main population centers and energy infrastructure," Estonian intelligence said.

Ukraine strikes deep into Russian military airfields and oil processing facilities. It is worth noting the high-precision attack on Jankoi Airport on the night of April 17. According to open sources, at least four C300/400 long- and medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems and airspace control systems were destroyed.

The Donetsk direction remains the main area of offensive operations of the Russian armed forces. A significant part of the Russian forces is concentrated there. They continue their attempts to surround and capture the settlement of Chasov Yar west of Bakhmut. However, the city has strong defensive fortifications, so the attacking party suffers heavy losses in the fighting. A quick capture of the city is not expected.

Intense fighting is taking place on the Avdeevka-Mariinka direction. Russia is advancing towards the Pervomaiskoe area.
