US President Joe Biden reaffirmed his commitment to the security of Israel on the eve of the Jewish holiday Passover, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
"My commitment to the safety of the Jewish people, to the security of Israel and its right to exist as an independent Jewish state is unwavering,", Biden said.
The Passover holiday, which commemorates the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, begins tonight.
"This Passover is especially difficult for the families of the hostages as they try to honor the spirit of the holiday -- a story whose central theme is freedom while their loved ones are still in captivity," the US president said, referring to the hostages taken by the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" in his unprecedented attack on Israel since October 7 last year.
Joe Biden stressed that his government is working around the clock to free the hostages, as well as for an "immediate and permanent ceasefire" in Gaza. "We will continue to work for a two-state solution that provides equal security, prosperity and lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians," Biden said.
