A representative of the Palestinian security services and an Egyptian representative said that Israeli tanks entered the city of Rafah in the southern part of the Gaza Strip and came within 200 meters of the Rafah crossing point on the border with Egypt, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA .
The Egyptian representative said the operation appeared to be limited in scope. He stated that Israeli representatives have informed their Egyptian counterparts that the Israeli military will withdraw from Rafah after completing this operation.
So far, the Israeli military has not commented on the information.

Yesterday evening, Israel's wartime cabinet unanimously decided to go ahead with a military operation in Rafah, shortly after "Hamas" said he accepted the offer of mediators in the talks Qatar and Egypt for a ceasefire. Israel, however, said the proposal fell far short of Israeli demands.
