The United States wants an explanation from the Russian Federation about the situation in the Baltic sea and the question of the "reshaping" on the borders with Lithuania and Finland, reports UNIAN.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has stated that the United States stands in solidarity with its partners in NATO and the European Union regarding the actions of the Russian Federation and its provocations on the border with the countries of the Baltic region. The US State Department has requested an explanation from Moscow regarding its "order".

"Now Russia is sowing confusion on NATO/EU borders. We stand in solidarity with our Baltic Sea allies and the Baltic States in the face of recent provocations and call on Russia to explain its actions," Miller wrote on the X social network.

"The Russian authorities intend to declare part of the water area in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, as well as near Baltiysk and Zelenogradsk in the Kaliningrad region, as internal sea waters of the Russian Federation,", previously wrote The Moscow Times.
