Hungarian right-wing populist Prime Minister Viktor Orbán heaped praise on former President Donald Trump after the former the president of the USA was convicted, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
"I know that President Donald Trump is a man of honor. As president, he always put America first, he enjoyed respect around the world, and he used that respect to build peace," Orbán wrote in the "X" application. "Let the people have their say this November! Keep fighting, Mr. President!", he added.
A jury in New York yesterday found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of embezzling hush money paid to a porn star.
Trump and Orbán regularly publicly exchange compliments, DPA points out. Orban was the only head of state from an EU country to openly announce his support for the Republican even before Trump was elected president in 2016.
In March, Orban visited Trump at his luxury resort in Florida, causing bewilderment in the US and the EU.
The two right-wing populists have a lot in common politically. Trump's former top adviser Steve Bannon has in the past called the Hungarian leader "Trump before Trump". Orbán has been in power in Hungary since 2010.
