Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico posted on the social network “Facebook” pre-recorded speech – his first public appearance since he was seriously injured last month, the Associated Press and Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Fizzo said the attack on him on May 15 had taken a heavy toll on his health and that “it would be a bit of a miracle if he was back at work in a few weeks”. At the same time, according to him, if “everything goes well, I will return at the end of June – beginning of July“.

„I have no reason to believe that this was the work of a lone lunatic,”, Fizzo said, calling the attacker, 71-year-old security guard Juraj Tsintula, an “activist of the opposition”. The attacker himself previously stated in court that he carried out the attack because of disagreement with government policy.

At the same time, the prime minister said that “the hatred and aggression of the opposition, tolerated by the media, peaked after the presidential elections in Slovakia this spring”.

"I have no hatred for the stranger who shot me. I will not take legal action against him or seek damages. I forgive him and let him figure out in his head what he did and why he did it. After all, it is clear that he was simply a messenger of evil and of political hatred, which the politically unsuccessful and disgruntled opposition in Slovakia has blown to uncontrollable proportions," the Slovak prime minister said.
