Key choices! France reports high voter turnout - 1

Election day in Paris today looks calm, as in the center of the French capital lacks political posters. The city is engulfed in the atmosphere of the upcoming Olympic Games, reports BTA.

Local media cited official figures as saying voter turnout was 26.63 percent by midday, the highest since 1982 and nearly a percentage point higher than last week (25.9 percent). In the run-up to the election, there were calls to vote in an attempt to overcome the power of the far right.

A week ago, the far-right “National Assembly” Marine Le Pen's was first, but today it will be decided whether there will be an outright majority in the new French parliament. If this does not happen, observers expect negotiations and possibly the emergence of a coalition or expert government.
