Iran's new president: We remain a sworn enemy of Israel - 1

Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian said today that Tehran will continue to lead an anti-Israel policy, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Pezeshkian said that the resistance movements in the region will not allow "criminal politics" of Israel to the Palestinians to continue.

"The Islamic Republic has always supported the resistance of the people of the region against the illegitimate Zionist regime," Pezeshkian said in a message to the leader of the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah.

According to Reuters, this statement of the newly elected president shows that the new Iranian government will not change Tehran's policy in the region.

Pezeshkian defeated conservative Said Jalili in last week's presidential runoff.

"I am confident that the resistance movements in the region will not allow this regime to continue with its militant and criminal policy towards the oppressed people of Palestine and other countries in the region," Pezeshkian said, quoted by Iranian media.

The Shia group "Hezbollah" and the Palestinian Sunni movement "Hamas" are among the Iran-backed factions in the region known collectively as the "Axis of Resistance,", Reuters notes.

So far, Israel has not commented on Pezeshkian's remarks.
