The arms trade between North Korea and Russia is a threat to world peace, South Korean President Yun Suk-yeol said yesterday, quoted by Reuters.< /p>
According to the South Korean leader, it is necessary for liberal democracies to be strong and allied with each other in order to protect freedom from "reckless elements".
Yun said this in Hawaii, where he met with US Indo-Pacific Command commander Admiral Samuel Paparo, the South Korean president's office said.
"North Korea is a threat to peace not only on the Korean Peninsula, but also globally, through its illegal arms trade with Russia,", Yoon said.
The South Korean president visited Hawaii on his way to the meeting of the leaders of the NATO countries in Washington.
Concerns about North Korea's growing military power have heightened since Pyongyang struck an accord with Russia last month that includes defense contracts, Yoon Suk-yeol said.
