Germany: Putin's proposal is absolutely unacceptable - 1

The demands of Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine are absolutely unacceptable. This is what the German ambassador to Ukraine, Martin Jaeger, said in an interview with Suspilny.

According to him, Germany has from the very beginning supported “the peace formula” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

„We support this process on the road to peace and Germany takes an active part in it. I personally also supported him quite actively, we had many meetings in Kiev. The terms of peace should be discussed only on the basis of international law and the Ukrainian proposal”, the diplomat noted.

Earlier, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, announced his own demands for an end to the war - in particular, the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the status of which, like Crimea, should be recorded in international treaties such as Russian. Kiev categorically rejects these demands, which in practice mean capitulation in the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he aims to have all the elements of a peace plan ready by November so that Kiev can convene a second high-level meeting to present its vision for ending the conflict with Russia, Reuters reported.

Ukraine held the first international peace meeting in Switzerland last month, which was attended by representatives of 92 countries, but not Russia. Kiev said it would invite its representatives to the November event.

„I aim to have a completely ready plan in November,” Zelensky said at a press conference after returning from last week's NATO summit.

A Russian deputy foreign minister said last week that Moscow would not attend the next summit, although the Kremlin was less specific, saying there was “no exact substance” regarding a second peace summit.
