Is the nuclear deal back? Tehran has shown willingness to resume talks - 1

Tehran remains open to resuming talks with Washington for their return to the nuclear agreement, said today in an interview with the magazine "Newsweek" Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ali Bagheri Khani, writes BTA.

Reuters notes that his remarks come as Kanye prepares to address the UN Security Council in New York.

"In terms of foreign policy, he (Ali Bagheri Khani) said that Tehran remains open to resuming negotiations with Washington to restore mutual participation in the nuclear deal," writes the magazine "Newsweek".

However, Iran also intends to work to deepen its ties with China, Russia and neighboring countries, the magazine quoted Khani as saying.

Tehran will also call for more active action against Israel in view of the war in the Gaza Strip, Iran's acting foreign minister added.

Under the administration of former US President Donald Trump, the US withdrew in 2018 from the nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers that limited Tehran's nuclear programs.

Indirect talks between the US and Iran to revive it have stalled. Iran is still part of the deal, but has scaled back its commitments due to US sanctions.
