The Thai authorities defined the case of the six Vietnamese found dead in a luxury hotel in the capital Bangkok as a "private affair", France Press reported, BTA reported. .

"According to initial information, this is a private affair, not a theft or a matter of national security,", Thai Prime Minister Sreta Thawisin told reporters in parliament today.

The lifeless bodies of six Vietnamese, two of whom are American citizens, were found yesterday in a hotel suite in the tourist center of Bangkok. Photos released by the police show Thai food and two thermoses of coffee in the room where the tragedy took place.

Investigators assumed it was debt-related poisoning. Police said at a press conference today that the poison that was probably used was cyanide, Reuters reported.

Traces of this substance were found in the blood of deceased people. The six Vietnamese were last seen alive on Monday afternoon when they ordered food to their room.

According to the police, one person in the group poisoned the others and then committed suicide. No further details were given. The death of the six foreigners will not affect tourism, the Thai Prime Minister assured in the meantime, quoted by AFP.

Tourism is a key sector of Thailand's economy and violence is a sensitive issue. The authorities in this country in Southeast Asia are trying to improve the image of the kingdom, which is sometimes associated with fraud and uncertainty, notes AFP.
