The Ukrainian the DeepState project, which describes the situation on the front, reports that the Ukrainian military managed to escape from an encirclement near the village of Progress, located in the Donetsk region, about 20 km from the city of Pokrovsk.
Judging by DeepState reports, in this area "several observation posts" of two battalions of the Ukrainian armed forces were completely surrounded by Russian troops.
At the same time, DeepState claims that the commander of the respective brigade did not give an order to leave the encirclement, which is why the servicemen of the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade decided to go into battle themselves.
DeepState did not specify how many military personnel were surrounded.
However, according to his information, "with the aid of the co-ordinated action of artillery, air reconnaissance and allied forces, and under the control of officers on the ground, the boys of the First and Third Battalions managed to escape from the encirclement in full composition ."
The information about the encirclement of Ukrainian troops in this area was confirmed by other Ukrainian military bloggers.
The village of Progress is located between the town of Avdeevka, which fell under the control of the Russian army in February, and Pokrovsk, towards which Russian troops are now advancing.
