French prosecutors released him from custody today the CEO of "Telegram" Pavel Durov, after he was interrogated for four days in connection with suspicions that the platform was used for illegal purposes, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.
Durov was arrested on Saturday at Bourgeois airport. near Paris as part of an investigation into 12 alleged crimes.
"The investigating judge canceled the police arrest of Pavel Durov and he will now be taken to the court for a first hearing where charges may be brought against him" said a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office.
It is claimed that "Telegram" has been used to distribute child sexual abuse material, drug trafficking, fraud and facilitating transactions carried out by organized crime groups. "Telegram" failed to provide information or documents to investigators when required by law.
