The commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Mykola Oleschuk said today that they have provided their American partners with a preliminary report regarding the fighter that crashed on Monday F-16, reported Reuters.
Oleschuk said in “Telegram” that the US, where the F-16 is manufactured, was cooperating with the investigation.
The Ukrainian military said yesterday that the fighter jet was on its way to a target during a Russian airstrike when it crashed, killing its pilot.
A US defense official told Reuters that the crash of the fighter jet on Monday did not appear to have been the result of Russian fire, and other possible causes, such as pilot error or technical malfunction, were still being investigated.
Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said yesterday that the United States has not been asked to participate in any investigations related to the F-16 incident.
The arrival of the first F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine was a significant milestone in Ukraine's fight against a full-scale invasion by Russia two and a half years ago.
