US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has arrived for a short visit to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, in which a state of emergency has been introduced, to assess efforts to stabilize the crisis-stricken country, reported France Presse, quoted by BTA.
Arriving at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, which recently reopened for flights after being closed for a time due to outbreaks of armed gang violence, Blinken had to travel in an escort of armored cars to the capital for talks with Haitian Prime Minister Gary Conil and the command of the multinational police force.
