Turkey is in first place in the world in bread consumption with nearly 200 kg per person per year, followed by Bulgaria and Ukraine, reports the Turkish news site "Yenigun", citing statistical data, BTA reported.
According to a new ranking of "World in Statistics" in Turkey, an average person eats 199.6 kg of bread per year, in Bulgaria - 131.1 kg, and in Ukraine - 88 kg.
Greece is in fourth place - with 70 kg of bread per capita per year, Germany is fifth - with 57 kg, and Russia is in sixth place - with 54 kg per person per year.
The Swiss eat 48 kg of bread per year each, in Saudi Arabia the amount is 39 kg, in Japan - 28.3 kg, and in South Africa - 25.8 kg, the cited statistics show.
