Shameful mistake! BBC cancels interview with Boris Johnson - 1

BBC cancels interview with the former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, after one of the most famous TV journalists inadvertently sent him the notes with the prepared questions to him, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Laura Kunsberg, the BBC's former political editor and now a Sunday news presenter, said she mistakenly sent Johnson the notes "in a message intended for my team", which is why the interview should have been be cancelled.

"It is very disheartening and there is no point in pretending that this is not shameful or disappointing,'' Künsberg wrote in "X". "But anger aside, honesty is the best policy," she added.

As a publicly funded broadcaster, the BBC has been criticized for its approach to politicians, with leading political correspondents often accused on social media of taking sides.

The interview was due to air tonight and was billed as Johnson's first major interview to talk about his memoir. The former British prime minister was expected to discuss his government's handling of the Covid pandemic and the Downing Street parties that helped end his rule.

A BBC spokesman said the error could not be justified and that the broadcaster and Johnson's team had agreed to cancel the interview.

The book "No inhibitions" of Johnson, who was prime minister from 2019 to 2022, goes on sale on October 10.
