The Republic of North Macedonia was elected a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2025-2027, it was announced from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Skopje after the vote in the UN General Assembly in New York, BTA reported.
In his message on social networks, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Timcho Mutsunski, defines the decision as a diplomatic success, and one of the main goals, in his words, "will be active participation in the UN Human Rights Council, contributing to the global affirming human rights and improving the situation in the world”.
„In the last national report of the Universal Periodic Review, presented to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, our country is high on the list of countries that respect and guarantee human rights and is assessed as a qualified candidate that meets the necessary conditions for participation in the work of this international body", specify in the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in Skopje.
The Republic of North Macedonia was also a member of the UN Human Rights Council in the period 2014-2016
