US presidential candidate Donald Trump refused to confirm or deny claims that he had phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin after leaving the White House in 2021.
"If I have spoken to him, I have acted wisely. If I have a friendly approach, if I create relationships with people, that's a good thing for the country," Trump said in an interview with the Bloomberg agency.
The claims of talks between him and Putin came to light a few weeks ago with the latest book by the famous journalist from the "Washington Post" Bob Woodward.
According to the latest poll by Reuters and Ipsos, Trump enjoys the support of 42 percent of Americans against 45 percent for the Democratic candidate - Vice President Kamala Harris.
Its lag is less than the allowable statistical error of 4%.
In 7 states that are crucial to the outcome of the race on November 5, the difference between Trump and Harris is minimal.
