The prosecutor's office in the western German city of Wutterpal brought charges of the 39-year-old man arrested for the fire in Solingen, in which four Bulgarian citizens of Turkish origin, including two children, died in March, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

He is charged with four murders and eight attempted murders.

According to the prosecutor's office, the man in question started a fire in a four-story apartment building on March 25, causing the death of two children, their mother and father. The other residents of the building escaped the flames by jumping through the windows, as a result of which some of them received serious injuries.

The felony suspect was previously a tenant of an apartment in a neighboring building, but his lease was terminated, leading to litigation. Investigators have found footage from surveillance cameras in the area that captured the accused on the night of the arson.

Just two weeks later, he is said to have made another murder attempt, attacking a 44-year-old man with a machete, causing him life-threatening injuries. The victim of this crime claimed that the attack was preceded by a dispute over a drug deal. The two men have known each other for 14 years.
