A number of taxes, fees and fines in Turkey will be increased by more than 40 percent in 2025, reports the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet. ;.

The publication specifies that the tax increase will be based on a revaluation rate based on the consumer price index in the country.

In October, the index was at a level of 43.93 percent, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced yesterday.

Fees for passports and driving licenses will increase by an average of 40 percent. For a three-year passport needed by a citizen to travel abroad, from next year, about 235 dollars (8,000 Turkish lira) will have to be paid, instead of the current 163 dollars. For a driving license of category B – $218 will be paid instead of $151. The price of the so-called exit visa for citizens of Turkey will also increase - from about 15 to 21 dollars.

Registering a mobile phone bought outside Turkey will also become more expensive. About $1,340 will have to be paid to register each mobile phone imported from abroad. Now that fee is about $930. Without registration, the phone is blocked four months after the first activation in the local mobile networks.

Fines for traffic violations will also increase. Running a red light will be fined $64 instead of $44. Exceeding the speed limit by 10-30 km/h will have to pay the same amount.

The annual tax for all types of vehicles will also increase.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has the right to reduce or increase the revaluation rate by 50 percent, notes "Hurriet".

According to local analysts, however, it is not expected that in 2025 taxes and fees will not be changed or will be reduced accordingly.
