In defense of the sovereignty of Kyiv! Emmanuel Macron wants to send 40 thousand NATO fighters to Ukraine - 1

On Thursday, December 12, French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Warsaw , to discuss with the Polish side a peacekeeping mission that should protect Ukraine's sovereignty if an agreement is signed with Russia.

Former NATO Deputy Secretary General Camille Grand told Rzeczpospolita that during a meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump, the French leader may have expressed Europe's willingness to take the risk to defend Ukrainian sovereignty.

France is actively proposing to send a peacekeeping mission to the country to ensure that the Russians do not violate the truce. The French Institute of International Relations is working on the development of a draft of this mission. His expert Eli Tenenbaum reported that the military contingent could number five brigades (about 40 thousand military personnel). The command of one brigade may be entrusted to Poland.

Now there are only three ways to provide Ukraine with security guarantees. The United States of America and Germany oppose the "German" a scenario that foresees the country's entry into the North Atlantic Alliance, while part of its territories are under occupation. "The Israeli“ model is uncertain, as continued arms supplies to Ukraine will depend on the state of US and European budgets:

"The third is the "Korean" model: an international peacekeeping mission that has guarded the demarcation line between South and North Korea for more than 70 years. It is on this third model, with the inclusion of elements of the first and second, that Kiev's security guarantees should be based.

Grand believes it is important to include as many countries and the US as possible in such a mission, even if their participation is only symbolic. He predicts that after the elections, Germany and the Netherlands may support this idea.
