At least 44 people were killed in two bus crashes in southeastern Afghanistan overnight, Reuters reported, citing local authorities.
76 people were injured. Some of the injured are in critical condition.
In one crash, the collision involved a fuel tanker, and the other a truck.
Road accidents are common in Afghanistan due to poor infrastructure, which suffered further during the decades-long war in the country, which ended in 2021 when foreign troops withdrew and the Taliban took power.
