The Eiffel Tower was temporarily evacuated today after a short circuit affected the Paris landmark, DPA reported.
The fire alarm was triggered this morning due to a short circuit in an elevator shaft, French television BFMTV reported. The problem occurred between the second floor and the top of the Eiffel Tower. Visitors were not in danger.
The world-famous landmark was due to reopen later in the day - but only up to the second floor, the newspaper "Parisien" reported.
The cause of the short circuit was initially unclear.
