Russia is responsible for the crash of the Azerbaijani Airlines plane, which killed 38 people, Andriy Yermak, head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said on "Telegram", quoted by DPA.
Moscow must be held accountable for the "shooting down" of the plane, he stressed.
Russia warned against speculating on the topic and called for waiting for the results of the investigation into the cause of the crash. Several media outlets, citing unnamed Azerbaijani government sources, reported that a plane flying from Baku to Grozny had crashed in Kazakhstan as a result of a Russian anti-aircraft missile.
While attempting an emergency landing, the "Embraer 190" plane crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau, on the coast of the Caspian Sea. 29 of the 67 people on board survived.
Photos of the tail of the downed plane show damage that looks like holes from shrapnel from air defense systems, DPA notes.
