Swedish authorities have released the Maltese-flagged Bulgarian ship "Vejen", which was suspected of damaging an underwater fiber-optic cable between Latvia and Sweden on January 26, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
"The investigation clearly shows that this was not a case of sabotage", Swedish prosecutors said.
"It was found that a combination of weather conditions and deficiencies in the equipment and seafaring skills" of the crew contributed to the cable being cut, the statement noted.
