The United States has confirmed new airstrikes on Yemen, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said. A video clip released by the command shows fighter jets taking off, accompanied by the text: "Give them hell, Harry!!!", possibly in the context of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, which is stationed near Yemen, News.bg reports.
The strikes came after the Houthis confirmed they had fired missiles and drones at the aircraft carrier and several warships in the northern Red Sea.
Earlier this month, the Houthis announced they would resume attacks on Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea unless Israel lifted its blockade on humanitarian aid to Gaza. They have carried out dozens of attacks on ships since the start of the war between Israel and “Hamas“ in late 2023 as a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
Following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and “Hamas“ in January, the Houthis suspended their attacks. However, on March 12, they said the threat of attacks on Israeli ships would remain in effect until Israel allowed humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza again.
