The Russian army has changed the tactics of strikes with "Shahed" against Ukraine. This, in turn, is forcing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to start developing new ways to counter enemy drones, but the details of these plans are being kept secret. This is what military analyst Julian Röpke writes in BILD.
According to him, the Kremlin is working every day to make its attacks with kamikaze drones of the Shahed-136 or Geran-2 type more effective than before. Recently, the Russians have resorted to previously unknown and even more deadly tactics.
Change in tactics
While until recently, Ukrainian Air Defense (ADF) units shot down a significant part of the strike UAVs before they reached their targets, for about a week now more and more drones have been managing to hit infrastructure, causing huge damage and fires in Ukrainian cities, the material states.
According to Röpke, the reason for most of the defeats is the change in tactics of the Russian army. Now, the "Shaheeds" do not fly one after another with an interval of several minutes, but gather together a few kilometers from the attack site at an altitude of several thousand meters and then all together attack the target. Under such conditions, Ukrainian forces manage to shoot down significantly fewer drones.
According to the publication, the new tactic of Russian drone strikes only confirms that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready for peace with Ukraine.
According to aviation expert Konstantin Kryvolap, Ukraine should use light aircraft to shoot down the "Shaheeds", as it has become difficult for mobile fire groups to intercept the large number of strike drones launched at once, daily, by the Russian army. He emphasizes that these light aircraft are produced in Ukraine and have "the price of a good all-terrain vehicle", that is, they are relatively cheap and would not harm the Ukrainian budget too much.
