A senior officer of the Russian armed forces was killed today in a car explosion in the city of Balashikha in the Moscow region, the Russian news channels „Mash“ and „Shot“ reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
According to „Mash“ the killed officer is Yaroslav Moskalik - deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Reuters notes that it cannot confirm this information through independent sources. There has been no official confirmation from authorities as to what exactly happened or the identity of the officer.
The Russian news channel “Baza“, which has sources in Russian law enforcement, said that an explosive device in a parked car was detonated remotely when the officer, who lived nearby, walked past it.
