Joe Biden to Donald Trump: This is an attempt at modern appeasement of the aggressor

Former US President Joe Biden has said that the pressure by US President Donald Trump's administration on Ukraine to hand over territory to Russia constitutes “modern appeasement of the aggressor“, stressing that Trump's approach has the potential to undermine international relations and that European countries are increasingly losing faith in America's ability to be a stable world leader, the BBC reports.

In his first interview since leaving the White House, Biden warned that the deterioration of US-European relations during President Donald Trump's term could have long-term consequences for the world and “change the course of modern history“.

Biden also pointed out that Trump's approach to Russia, which includes policies reminiscent of “modern appeasement“ towards Moscow, has led to a serious loss of confidence in the United States among European countries and that Russian President Vladimir Putin's attempts at appeasement have shown “the weakness of the United States in the eyes of European allies“.
