Putin is preparing a terrifying scenario for Ukraine, German historian warns - 1

German historian Alexander Korb said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing a terrifying dystopian scenario for Ukraine, which envisages the commission of even more war crimes.

In an interview with Ukrinform, the historian, specializing in the Holocaust, genocide, anti-Semitism and related mass crimes in Central and Eastern Europe, said that Putin will send many Ukrainians to prison on fabricated charges of “Nazism“.

According to him, the accusations of Nazism against Ukraine, which are constantly made by Kremlin representatives, look as if Moscow is trying to apply a kind of “victor's justice“. The essence of this strategy is to seize all of Ukraine and send prominent Ukrainians to prison.

“The Russian government is clearly hoping to implement [the following scenario]: to conquer Ukraine, occupy Kiev and put Ukrainian politicians in their prisons – in their Gulag. This would mean that the series of war crimes that have already been committed will be continued. This is an absolutely gloomy, dystopian scenario – and therein lies Putin's cynicism“, Korb said.

He emphasizes that information about the possibility of events developing in such a scenario must be conveyed to the world community in order to avoid this nightmare scenario. The historian adds that Moscow is clearly seriously considering this possibility - if Russia achieves its goals, then mass repressions against Ukrainians will begin. This is exactly what the invaders have already done in Crimea and in the captured parts of Donbas. After all, in the occupied territories, many people simply disappeared into prisons and camps because they were punished for defending the freedom and independence of their country.
