The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia announced today that it has banned the activities of the international human rights organization "Amnesty International" on Russian territory, categorizing it as an "undesirable organization", Reuters reported, BTA reported.
"The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has made a decision to ban the activities of the international non-governmental organization "Amnesty International" (Amnesty International Limited), registered in London, to be declared undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation," the press release quoted by TASS reads.
The statement also said that the organization's headquarters in London is a "center for preparing global Russophobic projects", Reuters notes.
Moscow accuses "Amnesty International" of advocating for Ukraine, with which Russia is at war. The human rights organization has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment.
